Between Two Minds: Romans 12:1-2
Are you afraid or confused or discouraged?
What an excellent time to give honor to the Mind of Christ.
This is not the knowledge of good and evil which brought you to your present distress. No, this is the mind which is rooted in Life Himself and only brings life to those who honor His mind’s unearthly glory and power.
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God–this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will.” Romans 12:1-2 NIV
What does it look like, this “renewing of your mind?”
I’ll cite one example: being in a state of weakness.
Using your knowledge of good and evil you will judge your weakness as bad, very bad. You feel inept, unable, embarrassed and critical of yourself.
Now, put on the Mind of Christ. Really. Put it on like a warm coat and snuggle down into its comfort.
Why?
Because inside His way of thinking you will discover, as did Paul, that your weakness is your BEST attribute. It causes you to cry out, to depend, to not believe the lie that says you are complete in and of yourself. Only then can you understand true strength: His strength.
Be patient with the process.
It will take awhile to love the Mind of Christ. It is of another world where truth reigns and lies have no power.
Rejoice!
